Who is STRRY? We are 7th – 12th graders of Congregation Shir Shalom who are involved in service around the Jewish community. We explore Jewish values and traditions and we love to go out and have fun together!
We’re on Facebook!
In 2015-2016, some of our programs included Laser Tag, celebrating with a Hanukkah Party, leading a Family Shabbat Service, organizing and running the Community Purim Carnival with other youth groups, fundraising through Hamentaschen baking and general bake sales, hosting a Passover Chocolate Seder, enjoying Pizza Parties, Movie Nights, and Game Nights.
Nick Lowinger (President) – He’s working hard in school in 12th grade and works at Romeo & Juliet’s Bakery and Cafe. He’s involved in Science Olympiads and is always exploring science and technology. Nick loves Chinese food, hanging out with friends, and Laser tag. This will be Nick’s third year as our President!
Shiri Kester – I’m excited to have moved from Youth Group alum to Advisor! I also work as the 5th Teacher in the Shir Shalom Religious School and as a Counselor and Assistant Teacher at the JCC. I grew up in this temple and was the President of the Youth Group (BATY) when I was in high school and I truly enjoy working with the youth. I graduated in 2014 from the University at Buffalo with high honors with Bachelor’s Degrees in both English and Media Studies. I’m passionate about traveling and have been to places all around the world.
You are always welcome to email me at firstname.lastname@example.org with any questions, comments, or to become a member.
Getting involved is easy! To get on the mailing list, email us. Youth Group has monthly meetings on Sundays after Religious School – these will always be posted on the Temple’s calendar. Anyone in grades 7-12 is welcome to attend, bring friends, and hang out. Check out our Facebook Page for more photos, updates, and information!
Jewish Teens from WNY, Ohio, Pennsylvania, and Ontario get together throughout the year at NFTY-NEL (National Federation of Temple Youth – North East Lakes) events. Each Kallah is organized and run by and for teens. This is a great way to make new friends, have fun, be creative, think about Judaism and get involved in the larger community! NFTY Kallah’s are open to 9th – 12th graders unless otherwise noted.
Registration for all events opens 7 weeks before the event. Registration & more information can be found at www.nfty.org/nel/events
