Barbara dropped out of high school at the age of 16. But realizing she needed to finish school she obtained her GED. She worked with many celebrities including Darren McGavin (who starred in the Equalizer TV series) helping them learn their lines. Congressman Jack Kemp appointed her to set up a program to help college dropouts to rejoin society and obtain their GED’s and helped them get accepted to college.
Bambii (as her friends like to address her) was highly interested in gender equality in Academia and the workplace. She wrote a book, “Rachel Girl Power Running Against Bullying,” illustrated by Frankie Torres and published in 2010. This led to her speaking at many national conferences addressing the matter of bullying. Bambii also served as an Adjunct Professor at SUNY Buffalo.
