Jane Freer of Amherst, NY, died peacefully at home under hospice care on June 5,
2026. She was born on January 27, 1953, in Long Island City, NY, to Norman and
Rasha Rosenthal. She is survived by her husband, Jack; her sons, Cameron and his
partner, Anna, and Ben and his wife, Sara; and her two grandchildren, Nikoh and
Sam. She was predeceased by her siblings, Mark and Ruth.
Jane was a special education teacher who worked for the Heritage Education
Program for many years before teaching in the Clarence Central School District.
She later worked for Erie 1 BOCES as a policy coordinator. She volunteered with
Hospice Buffalo, Amherst Meals on Wheels, and the Food Shuttle of WNY.

Geraldine will be laid to rest next to her beloved husband, the late Dr. Alfred Lederman. Mother of Robert (Kathi) Lederman and the late Jan Ellen Ruderman; mother-in-law of Tom Ruderman; sister of the late Zetta Fradin and Myron “Mike” Silver; grandmother of Matthew (Betsy) Ruderman, Alyssa (Ross) Hager, Joli Rose Lederman and Mari Lederman. Known for her compassion and love, Geraldine was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister and aunt. She was an avid supporter of Camp Good Days, hosting an annual fashion show to help those battling childhood cancer. She will be remembered lovingly by the staff and students of the Continental Beauty School where she was longtime Director of Education. A Memorial Service will be held at a later date.
