Torah Thoughts – Noah – Genesis.6.9-11.32 – “Qualities Needed to Save the World?”

Genesis.6.9-11.32

This week’s Torah portion, Parashat Noah, lists three primary qualities a person needs to save the world:

  1. They should be righteous.
  2. They should be blameless
  3. And, they should be Godly

Noah, despite all of his obvious faults – making no attempt to alert his fellow human beings of what was coming, and indifference to his own family – he was the only one in his generation to have these qualities at all.

In our time, we may have many more Noahs or we may not. One thing that is certain, is we lost one this past week.  Mindy Weinman, ritual chair, longtime board member, and former president, possessed all three qualities in spades.  With her huge heart, eternal optimism, and can do attitude, she got us through many crises.  And, unlike Noah, she was a people lover, who made friends wherever she went.  Our sincerest condolences to her husband David, and daughter’s Amy and Sara.  May her memory always be for a blessing.

Shabbat Shalom,
